ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF INDECENT DRESSING AND PROMISCUITY AMONG FEMALE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT IN AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY, EKPOMA
Abstract
This study assessed the level of indecent dressing and promiscuity among female undergraduate students' undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The study specifically sought to examine forms of indecent dressing and sexual promiscuity as well as determined the level of indecent dressing and sexual promiscuity among undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. This study employed the descriptive research design. The population covered all the 27,388 regular undergraduate students in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. A sample size of 546 students was selected for the study. The instrument used for the collection of data was a questionnaire titled: “Students Indecent dressing and Sexual Promiscuity Questionnaire - SIDSEPQ”. The test-retest method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. Research questions were analyzed using mean (x) and standard deviation (S.D). A mean score of 2.50 was used as the benchmark for determining students' perception on the item statements while all the hypotheses tested at .05 level of significance using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS23). The result showed thatwearing of body exposing attires and excessive make-overs are the forms of indecent dressing among undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. It was recommended that theuniversity management should institute policies on faculty dress code in other to ensure s tudents are disciplined in their way of dressing
