SKILLS OF WORKPLACE ETHICS POSSESSED BY TECHNICAL TEACHERS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IN TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) INSTITUTIONS IN DELTA STATE

Abstract

This study investigated skills of workplace ethics possessed by Technical teachers for instructional effectiveness in Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions in Delta-State. Three research questions were answered and the study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 65 Technical teachers, the entire population was used hence there was no sampling. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire and three experts validated the instrument, while Cronbach alpha reliability method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument which yielded an overall coefficient of 0.89. Mean statistics was used to answer the three research questions. The study found that skills of commitment to workplace ethics, integrity and self management were moderately possessed by Technical teachers in TVET institutions. Based on these findings, recommendations were made to include: workplace ethics should be emphasis by management of TVET institutions in the form of seminar from time to time, among others.
